Hi again, continuing where we stopped at Mauritius Island! So, after spending a very hot, sunny and tanning day on the beach I decided to take a walk around the resort and explore a bit more. It reaches quite deep into a natural park and the whole complex has been very successfully integrated between the natural traits of the location. The entire area is a sort of circle shaped and is surrounded by water with some smaller and secluded beaches around it. It is very, tranquil, quiet and peaceful.

In the evening you can enjoy various restaurants and bars. There is the main restaurant with buffet dinner. The whole crew of that flight got together. It is somewhat a tradition for the whole crew to have dinner together whenever in Mauritius. You can enjoy various cuisines from international through Italian and Mediterranean style, Thai food and fully vegetarian. In short, there is a little something for everyone.

After dinner we headed to the bar to enjoy some drinks and good music. That night we were lucky – there was live music by a local band and a singer. We were even luckier when we enjoyed Sega – a Mauritian dance show performed with traditional costumes by female dancers. It is a dance that originated from ritual music of Madagascar and it is a musical expression of the lifestyle and thinking in Mauritius – joy, liveliness, pleasure and having fun! Personally, I could not describe life in Mauritius better myself! Also, the singing is performed in Creole, the native language of Mauritius.

That pretty much sums up my layover in Mauritius Island – a mini holiday and always a well-deserved prize after a tiring flight. The next day I headed for breakfast and spent a couple of more hours by the beach before returning to Dubai.
