The Dubai Fountain

With creativity, colors and music the Dubai Fountain is one of a kind water fountain show located at Dubai Mall within the vicinity of the majestic Burj Khalifa. Starting at 6pm sharp every evening the show runs every 30 minutes and has a duration of between 3 and 5 minutes. You can sense when a spectacle is approaching by the slow gathering of crowds as the time approaches and people smoothly struggling to find their best spot to watch. Some take videos, others selfies or both, or there are those who simply want to enjoy the moment.

The Dubai Fountain is one of those places in the Emirate where you can feel the true international spirit of the glittering megapolis. People from all walks of life and nationalities gather every evening to enjoy a water fairy tale combined with lighting and unique water choreography. The music is both international and traditional Arabic. The atmosphere is happy and very positive. Tourists, residents and locals all go there with one purpose - to enjoy a show full of class, beauty and good quality music. It is one of the must-see places in Dubai and once you see it you definitely will try to see it again and again. The entrance is completely free, located at one of the levels of Dubai Mall. Follow the signs that say Dubai Waterfront and Dubai Fountain. What I most enjoy is that when a show starts, the viewer’s attention is fully focused on it and for a few short minutes you forget all of your problems.

The Dubai Fountain is a choreographed fountain system located on the 12 hectare man made Burj Khalifa artificial lake. It was designed by WET Design, responsible also for the creation of the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. It is illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors and shoots water up to 500ft (152m.) into the air.

The program is visible from every spot along the promenade and as well from some neighboring buildings. There are also performances from 1pm to 1.30 pm and between 6pm and 10pm on weekdays every half and hour and until 11pm on weekends. The music sounds from large speakers located all along the lake. If you are lucky you can catch a rehearsal during the day as well. The Lake itself is also visible from At The Top, Burj Khalifa.
